Full Fare – Persons from 13 to 59 years of age
Students: Elementary, Middle and High School students up to and including Grade 12 can purchase an LRTA Monthly Pass at a discounted rate. Students without the LRTA Monthly Pass pay Full Fare
-Senior Citizens 60 years of age or older with I.D.
-Persons with Disabilities with Statewide Transportation Access Pass (TAP) or Medicare Card.
-Children from 6 to 12 years of age.
-Children 5 and under ride free and must be accompanied by an adult.
Where to Get Your New Charlie Card
& Purchase LRTA Monthly Passes
You must be issued a CharlieCard before you can purchase any LRTA Monthly Passes.
LRTA Gallagher Terminal (115 Thorndike Street, Lowell)
All LRTA Monthly Passes can be purchased on the last 5 days of each month until the 18th day of the following month at the following locations:
Ticket Vending Machine (Inside Lobby)
Also Issues Adult CharlieCards.
Rider Information Booth (Kennedy Center)
Regular Hours: Monday – Friday: 8 AM to 4 PM
Extended Hours last 2 and first 2 business days of each month:
Monday – Friday: 6 AM to 6 PM
Also Issues Adult & Student CharlieCards. To Get Your Student CharlieCard bring a valid Student ID or Class Schedule from your school.
Lowell High School Cafeteria
LHS Students can go to the LHS Cafeteria the last and first school day of each month
from 10:40 AM to 1:40 PM during the school year.

Monthly Passes cannot be purchased at this location.
To Get Your Senior CharlieCard:
- Bring Photo ID that includes Date of Birth (Must be 60+ years)
- Must Fill Out an Application.
- Senior CharlieCard Registration Fee: $5
To Get Your CharlieCard for Persons with Disabilites/Transportation Access Pass (TAP):
- First time applicants for the TAP ID, or applicants with expired TAP ID Cards need to fill out an application. Click Here to Download the Transportation Access Pass (TAP) CharlieCard Application.
- The LRTA will process your application within 14 days of receipt.
Once approved , you will need to bring a photo ID to the Road Runner Office.
Free round-trip transportation will be provided to you for this process.

Rider Value Purchase:
Purchase 10, $2.00 “Ticket-to-Ride” cards, riders will receive a 20 percent discount at the time of purchase. Frequent rider will get a $20 value for $16.
Purchase 10, $3.00 “Ticket-to-Ride” cards, riders will receive a 20 percent discount at the time of purchase. Frequent rider will get a $30 value for $24.
Road Runner does not make change; exact fare is required for each trip.
